Mr. Boon will be presenting on Re-imagining the Post in the post-COVID19 era at Parcel and Post Expo in October 2020.

This would be a panel with a focus on smaller, developing countries which have been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and their re-positioning of the Post as an infrastructure for the provision of essential service, such as delivering cash and financial services [digital financial inclusion], pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, public or /government services [e-gov and IDs] and documents and fulfilment of online ordering of goods ranging from daily groceries and goods to seeds and fertilizers to smallholder farmers [agri e-commerce]. Therefore, the Post as an infrastructure with a physical face and presence and providing access to a digital platform of a broad range of e-services. Traditional letter mail volumes were already very small and have been further marginalized.

The panel could present and discuss key issues and progress in recent projects in Kyrgyzstan (World Bank, 360⁰ digitalization of 360 post offices) and probably Uganda (IFAD, digitalization of 30 rural post offices) and with participation of Mr. Michailas Traubas, Solution Architect at Etronika, in Vilnius, Lithuania and leading the design and implementation of the new technology in the Kyrgyz Republic, and with the project managers of the Kyrgyz Post and Posta Uganda. There are a few projects being initiated, mainly in Sub Saharan Africa and information or publications on that could be shared in October 2020.
