1996 – 1997
As part of the World Bank’s program to unbundle the Uganda Post & Telecommunications Corporation, Postbank International Consultancy undertook a review of the strategy of the Uganda Post and Telecommunications Corporation and the operation of the Post Office Savings Bank focusing on the opportunities for expanding access to financial Services offered through the Post offices (1996/1997).
The program recommended the repeal of the POSB Act and corporatizing of the entity as a licensed and corporatize bank, named Postbank, distributing its services through the post offices on the basis of an agreement with the Uganda Post Ltd.
The program was funded by the World Bank.
