International and worldwide renowned expert with 27 years’ experience, Mr. Boon specializes in international postal reform and postal banking development and leading or participating in postal financial development programs with cross-cultural teams in 60+ countries.
His work with transformation programs focus on restructuring of Postal operators and diversification strategies of Posts in the changing industry, especially in partnership building to expand with digital financial services. Hans Boon gained broad experience as a vice president of ING. Prior to that he held management positions in the Netherlands Postbank and Post Office. He was involved in pioneering one of the world’s first cases in postal (bank) reform and privatization. Hans served 15 years on the UPU’s Postal Financial Services Commission where he led task forces.
He also served on the UPU’s European Postal Financial Services Commission and was for two years vice chair of the Postal Operators’ Council of the Regional Commonwealth for Communications. He has extensive experience in working as an expert with international institutions and is currently consultant for the World Bank Group, IFAD, Eurogiro, and the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute. He previously provided consultancy services with IFC, CGAP, UNCDF, UPU, ADBI and the African Union Commission.
His work on the ground spans the globe. He has been sought to advise governments and banks in more than 30 countries in transformation of the Post, (re-) structuring, development and expansion of the partnerships between the Post Office and the financial sector, followed up by launching new products and services.
