1997 – 1998
Feasibility Study of a giro payments system in Tanzania. On request of the Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) and funded by the World Bank, this study was undertaken in co-operation with NethPost Consultancy (1997-1998).
Besides making an assessment of the current payment systems, the study focused on defining the prerequisites for an expansion of TPC’s role in the provision of financial services in Tanzania (managerial and infrastructural capabilities, order of magnitude of expected transactions (such as collection of bills for utility services), etc.) and its cooperation with the Tanzania Postal Bank.
