South African Post Office – Postbank

2010 – 2012

A team of 3 PFID experts was sent to South Africa to help to double the savings accounts held by the poor, as part of the program of the World Savings Bank Institute, Brussels.

Key issue included the analysis of Postbank’s revenues and cost related to the Post Office network. Design of Service Level Agreements and an Internal Transfer Pricing methodology as an element for the preparation of the corporatization of Postbank, risk management and compliance and the assessment of the strategic opportunity to distribute the SASSA social grants via post offices and with Postbank cards.

The assistance was rendered between January 2010 and April 2012, mostly in Pretoria and included work visits to the Postal savings centre in Bloemfontein and a seminar in Cape Town.
